Today: Week 4 Session 2 (45 minutes): Run 2 minutes, walk 3 minutes.
Today's lesson: "The better part of valor is discretion, in the which better part I have saved my life."
Translation: In hindsight, perhaps it was not a great idea to go running in the rain. Except, in my defense, it wasn't raining when I left, and then it wasn't raining hard, until suddenly it was. Running in the rain wearing glasses is always an interesting proposition. Doing it when the dog is confused and not terribly excited about it, even more so. I took a mild spill, and my left hip's a little unhappy, but the dog didn't run away, and ibuprofen + heating pad are helping, and I'm 2/3 done this week, so, well, ok. Next time I think perhaps I will think better of it. Part of the pressure that sent me out today has to do with worrying about working everything in over the holidays.
It is just over a year since I moved back to New Orleans from Lafayette after Katrina. Just over a year since I moved into my current house. Just under a year of having a dog. Just under eight months of a renewed commitment to exercising, largely because of said dog. Just over ten months to the marathon date.
A little bit of rain isn't going to stop me.
