Or almost. I've regained the East Coast, despite several rainstorms, a car where all the noncritical pieces don't function, and a flat tire in Harrisonburg, VA at 6 PM on a Sunday afternoon. God bless New Jerseyans, who seem to be my saviors in all my transportation crises. (Thanks, Jen's parents, Jen and Mike, and the nice guy with three daughters and an automotive hobby who stopped to help change the flat.) (Though I DID manage to get the jack up and the lug nuts off myself. Hah.) The current itinerary for the Grand Tour? Brussels till the 4th of July, Maryland/DC till the 24th of September, London - with a hiatus in October for Evelyn's wedding - till the 23rd of December, and then Austin till graduation. After that, padded walls and a nice cozy jacket.

Work started today, and is good. Work continues until I get on a plane on Friday to go to Brussels. For reasons of prudence, work won't take up much space here.

Fortunately, my current lack of any information regarding my next stop should assure interesting reading nonetheless. My knowledge of French? Je suis la tante d'un poisson and a smattering of other randomness. My knowledge of Dutch (as the signs in the country are apparently bilingual)? None at all. Also known as: enough to get me into interesting dilemmas until some kind patient person shows up. (Any New Jerseyans want to come in my suitcase?)

My knowledge of Brussels? The location of a Danish tavern, a Jackson-Pollocky hostel and the Mannekin Pis. All the critical details.

Housing is apparently 5 min from the office, halfway between the EU Zone and the Grande Place. Of all the firm's offices, Brussels alone has a Comite de fete (absent all relevant accentuation) - a party committee. Our welcome email FROM the folks in Brussels reinforces its role - the Spring Party is the Friday after we arrive, to be held in a castle.... With dinner and dancing. Those of you who've had the misfortune of dancing with me realize the wealth of opportunity for disaster. And I left my tiara in Texas, alas.

At any rate, this is my answer both to my technologically gifted siblings, who have paved the way with their own adventures, and to those of you who were blessed with 12 page emails every six weeks during the Copenhagen era. I have no idea how to work the digital camera, so pictures will arrive as the learning curve improves.

So - off I go. Back on Monday or thereafter, as life allows.

No trip back to Austin between DC and London? Sadness! ;_;

I'm going to be in The Future until 2 days before classes. Let us all stop, think about a 23rd arrival in Dallas and a 25th start day in Austin, and then laugh. A lot. I plan to sleep that Thursday through Sunday, waking only for meals that involve tortillas. Then I go to look for a part-time job in a stationary store or something. Somewhere where I can, you know, earn money and not have to use my finely (and expensively) educated brain. Brilliance! Brilliance, I say!

I -will- be back - and maybe even after you've arrived (though your brain may still be in Japan). I'm coming back to Austin for a few days - likely the 28th to 31st-ish. And WHAT did you end up doing this summer??

I'm working for Allen & Overy and taking a class at TUJ. I have to plead with Dean Aleman to give me credit because the summer program at Temple isn't *technically* ABA certified (i.e. The ABA hasn't shown up, looked around, and said "Looks good enough to us" yet). Bleh. May also do some research assistant stuff, but that hasn't been worked out yet.

Otherwise, I'm just going to be here questing for a pink playstation 2. It will be mine, oh yes it will . . . >_<q
