(With apologies - these are cell phone pictures, so the colors can be a little strange.)
What can I say? Life is good.
You remember Molly:

Now meet Katie.

I saw her online on petfinder just before I moved, and the grin on her face just caught me. So I emailed, and explained the situation, and at the end of September,
raisintorte drove out with me to western MD and asked intelligent questions while I fell in love and she and Molly ran around a bunch. Apparently, Katie was one of one or two dogs left at a shelter in Ohio on the day they usually euthanize. So they called the shelter to see if they had space, and they came and picked her up. (Thank goodness!)
Then we drove home, while we debated on a new name (she'd been Granny Annie at the rescue). Katie won. (Immediately after the picture on the right, she turned and caught
raisintorte with a big old lick right on the lips.) We got home, and
smittywing came over to join the fun, and the settling in began.

Clearly, life is pretty good.

The shelter listed her as a chow/golden mix, but I think she might have more spaniel in her than chow, just based on her behavior. She has a lot of energy, but is very happy to curl up and chill (although I bet she was a really, really bouncy puppy). She worries more than Molly ever has, and she loves to give kisses. Her age is anybody's guess, but she's really very healthy - good teeth, no heartworm, lots of muscle, lots of energy - so I'm estimating somewhere between four and five years.
She and Molly get along gangbusters - Molly loves having another dog in the house, and I think the fact that she's pretty low key and confident has helped Katie relax into things more.

And so, where once there was one, now there are two.
