1. Leave me a comment saying anything random--like your favorite kind of sandwich or something you remember from long ago or something you bet I didn't know. Something random. Whatever you like.
2. I respond by asking you five personal questions so I can get to know you better.
3. You will update your LJ with the answers to the questions.
4. You will include this explanation and offer to ask someone else in the post.
5. It will go on and on and on and that is what makes it a meme!

[personal profile] beeej asked me:

1.If you could live in the reality of any one TV show, movie or book, which would it be and how would you fit in there? This one is easy. :D I would be Hermione Granger. Period. The end.

2. You're throwing a dinner party and any living person will accept the invitation. Tell me the top 5 people on your guest list. Hmm. Madeline Albright. Elspeth Rostow (a former professor and amazing woman). Barak Obama. Salman Rushdie. Mel Brooks.

3.If you were going on a mission to Atlantis, and you could only take one personal item, what would you choose? That's really, really tough. Probably a scrapbook with pictures of friends and family and the stories that go with them.

4.What was your favorite tv show/cartoon when you were a kid?
I... didn't watch a huge amount of TV as a kid, actually.  If I had to pick one, it's probably Sesame Street.

5.Would you rather travel in time, or space? Space. There's so much to see in the time I inhabit, and plane fare's expensive. :D

Ok, now you!i

First, I will steal shamelessly from [personal profile] smittywing and say: Snap Cup! Go put your name down so I can tell you to your face how incredible you are. Lots of people seem to be having a rough summer - share the happy. My link is here.

Second: Running:

3 miles today, for a weekly total of nine. Same pattern as yesterday. Today was both harder and easier - I wasn't struggling nearly as much, and my breathing's starting to even out. It sounds weird, but I can feel my lung capacity expanding. I have also learned that 1) I hate running in shorts; 2) happy music makes me run better; and 3) there's something weird going on with my left knee that means I need to keep my stride pretty exact. Re: #3: nothing painful - just that I can sort of feel things twist in ways that are probably bad to repeat if I'm not very careful to keep my feet pointing forward. It's harder than it sounds, given that I tend to walk on the outsides of my feet. Is there something I can do about that?

ETA: Third: I left work at 10:45. PM. Grr.

I will write a drabble for the first ten or so commenters to request one (100 words exactly.)  (Pretty much, this means anybody, since I don't think ten people actually read this regularly. :) ) In return, they have to post this in their journal feel free to post this in your journal, but don't sweat it. :)

You may request the character and/or the pair and/or the rating for the following fandoms - also, prompts/suggestions are love. My plot-bunnies all die of myxomatosis.

Doctor Who: Anyone from Nine's season forward, simply because I haven't watched older seasons in a long, long while
Sherlock Holmes/Mary Russell

Only six?

So. [personal profile] omglawdork tagged me for this:

Each player of this game starts with “6 weird things about you”. Each person who gets tagged needs to write a blog post of their own 6 weird things as well as clearly state this rule. After you state your 6 weird things, you need to choose 6 people to be tagged and list their names. Don’t forget to leave a comment that says “you’re tagged” in their comments and tell them to read your blog for information as to what it means.

I choose to blithely ignore the tagging rules, but I will go annoy [personal profile] kurayami_hime and see if she'll come play and tell the rest of you sans journals to come play (or play by email) if you please. And anyone else that wants tagging - I hereby tag you!

1) Talking to me is like working with Hyperstacks on a Mac. (Do Macs still use stacks?) I start one story, digress like hell through six or seven other stories and then return through them until we get back to the original topic.

2) I -hate- the membranes on the inside of bell peppers and will go to insane lengths to make sure I have scraped them all out.

3) Sometimes I get bored just reading a book and will actually read it out loud. To myself. Doing all the voices. With accents, if necessary. I have recorded some of these for later listening.

4) My first car had a demon. It wouldn't start if the weather met a very specific set of conditions; fog came out of the dashboard when you turned on the defroster, and the radio would randomly cut out. You could remedy it only by smacking a precise spot on the dashboard with great violence.

5) My best friend and I, many moons ago, once sat up half the night deciding what colors, fruits/vegetables, and flowers/plants a whole slew of people would be. I'm pretty sure I was a red-kumquat-sunflower. No alcohol was involved.

6) I have a complete and total inability to remember titles of songs and the artists who sing them. For example: in college, "Killing Me Softly" by the Fugees was "The Guitar Song". Why? Because he was STRUMMING. (Somewhere my college roommate is shouting, "HER PAIN. He was strumming HER PAIN.") "Come On Eileen" by Dexi's Midnight Runners (and someone else who covered it) was the "Too Rah Loo Rah Song". More recently:

Me: What's the newest Neko Case album called? Something about some fox coming to the wedding
Me: It's long.
Me: I can't remember it.
My sister: "Fox Confessor Brings the Flood"
Me: Oh.
Me: No wedding, then.
Me: I don't know why I thought it was about a wedding.

(But if I had to guess? It's because the fox is a confessor. Trust me, it works in my head.)
